A SERENE ESCAPE

Do you dream of having an all white or ivory bedroom? Well, so did my client!

Peaceful, serene, and cathartic are just a few adjectives to describe an all ivory bedroom.
Designers aiming to create restorative and rejuvenating bedrooms are no stranger to forgoing color in favor of a white palette. When applied right, white and its many shades are every bit as expressive as their more colorful counterparts. Part of the beauty of white is its different tones which can evoke a multitude of moods. Shades of cream and almond (any white with a yellow undertone, really) are prime for permeating bedrooms with a cozy, sun-dappled feel.
In this bedroom redesign, I chose an all ivory color palette with tons of texture, pops of gold, natural wood tones and a touch of soft gray in the area rug. I wanted to include an impact piece, so I designed and built an 85" x 96" plant wall using faux greenery. It is the backdrop for a large TV, neon sign and two boucle (sherpa) accent chairs. In addition to building the plant wall, I also constructed a custom 160" x 50" boucle upholstered headboard, which was quite the feat to do on my own. Slightly darker cream drapes and sheer panels were hung from one end of the wall to the other to add more texture to the space, while filtering the natural light. It all came together to create the most serene bedroom.
