A home entryway/foyer says a lot about the people who live there. What does your foyer say about you? Do you have just a console table there to catch keys or is your foyer a welcoming showcase of beautiful art and objects?

Foyers are the logical first place in your house to share your personality – a chance to give your guests a taste of your design style and create the anticipation of what’s ahead.
It’s an important place in the home to make a statement, but aiming for a "welcoming" feel should be your ultimate intention. After all, it is also for you and your family to use – and you should feel at home as soon as you open the door. In my opinion, some foyer must haves (if you have the space) include a rug, mirror, console table, chair/bench and statement lighting.
I was recently hired to redesign a 22 foot long foyer. It was such a long hallway entrance that it really needed to make an impact – after all, it is the first impression of your home. The client had so many beautiful sketches of historical landmarks from around the world that she wanted to include. Unfortunately, they were all framed and matted in different colors and sizes so there wasn’t much consistency. She chose her favorites and had them all re-matted and framed to match. Along with the new artwork, I chose a subtle striped wallpaper, custom length rug runner and two gold pendant lights. The end result is so beautiful. It is so warm and inviting, just like the rest of her home! Check out the before and after photos.
