Hi, I'm Becky and I'm a Maximalist.

Some might call maximalism colorfully curated chaos. I say “go big or go home!”
Maximalism in interior design is a celebration of bold expression and individuality, with vibrant spaces that show off the pinnacle of lively design. Patterns, colors, textures and objects are blended into an energetic, eclectic design style, rooted in a more-is-more philosophy. Although I have always known that I am a maximalist, this design trend has really taken off in 2023. It's the perfect way to make a statement and create a space that is truly unique.
Maximalist interior design is the biggest and boldest design style out there.
Joy is an important pillar of this over-the-top design style. Create layers of joy in your maximalist design to make it feel like your own, prioritizing comfort and familiarity more than anything else. Take your favorite pieces of art, furniture, treasures and decor, and dial it up to ten by having it all on display, in a somewhat coordinated fashion. Maximalist design is not just about adding more and more things to your home. It’s about embracing your personality and most favorite things, and incorporating them into your interior design. This makes each maximalist-styled home incredibly unique to the person designing it!
Bold and vibrant colors are a great way to achieve premier maximalist vibes. Since many colors and patterns are used in this interior design style, it may be helpful to find a common theme to tie everything together, either within one room or from room to room. To find a harmonious balance, focus on 2-3 colors, finishes, or similar patterns to layer in throughout the space. Also play with florals and a variety of shapes to achieve a lovely, layered maximalist look in your home.
While the maximalist designs often feature a charming kaleidoscope of color, layers, and decor, it still should be intentional. Maximalist design is meant to make your home feel homey and comfortable, so too much clutter might be overpowering in a space that already has a lot of other elements going on.
Here are a few examples of maximalism at it's best:

To all my current and future maximalists out there: be bold, embrace what you love and be unapologetically you! And remember my mantra, "It doesn't have to match, it just has to go."
